Dr. Becker’s passion for wellness medicine was the driving force behind
the creation of Natural Pet Animal Hospital, which opened in the Chicago
area in 1999.
Since then, thousands of pets dealing with chronic degenerative diseases
including allergies, cancer, organ failure, arthritis and auto immune
diseases have benefitted from Dr. Becker’s unique approach to medicine.
Her holistic approach to internal medicine and her passion for clinical
pathology (tracking disease processes in the body), as well as an array of
integrative diagnostics and innovative treatment protocols have earned
her recognition as one of Chicago’s Top Vets (according to Chicago
Magazine), and a special place in her client’s hearts.
Dr. Becker’s veterinary practice revolves around her belief that the
foundation of good health and longevity is species appropriate nutrition.
She attributes much of her clinic’s success to the fact that nutrition is
addressed with every patient, at every exam.
Dr. Becker believes what we eat matters. Clients arrive at Natural Pet
from many different backgrounds, feeding many different kinds of food
to the animals in their care. Dr. Becker is passionate about encouraging
clients to feed pets the best food they can afford. As a daily part of her
job as a vet, she helps people transition their pets to more species
Dr. Becker wrote her first pet food cookbook in 1999 after realizing many
people want to feed their pets the best food possible, but are unable to
find suitable pet food choices where they live.
Dr. Becker consults with pet lovers around the world, and her award
winning cookbook has been invaluable not only to pet owners in the U.S.,
but also to international clients who don’t always have access to
integrative vets in their area. Dr. Becker has created an online video
archive in addition to her free newsletter, to help animal lovers worldwide
experience the benefits of proactive living.
In 2002, Dr. Becker founded Covenant Wildlife Rehabilitation, a not-for-
profit, 501c3 organization dedicated to caring for injured wild animals.
The organization provides care to over 200 wild animals each year, free
Covenant Wildlife Rehabilitation is based on Dr. Becker’s belief that wild
animals must be valued and cared for as vital members of our ecosystem.
From sparrows to eagles, bunnies to beavers, Dr. Becker provides
specialized care to all wildlife. This endeavor is a labor of love and is
entirely funded through private donations.
Recognizing all animals benefit from integrative medicine, Dr. Becker
opened Feathers Bird Clinic, an exotic animal hospital, in 2006. Feathers
provides bird and exotic animal owners with the very best in traditional
avian and exotic medicine, diagnostics and surgery for their companions.
Dr. Becker believes that by strengthening the frame and correcting
neurologic and musculoskeletal imbalances, animals will have improved
resiliency and quality of life at any age.
Dr. Becker is a strong proponent of living a pain free life. She founded
the Therapaw Pain Management Clinic out of necessity: animals coming
to her needed more aggressive pain management options. She also
launched Therapaw in-home Hospice Care in 2011, offering patients
medical and supportive care in the comfort of their own homes through
the last chapter of their lives.
